Two families displaced after south Columbus fire

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus fire crews responded to Reeb Avenue in south Columbus early Tuesday on report of a fire.

Firefighters say they were able to quickly contain the fire, avoiding any extreme structural damage to the home.

According to Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief, the fire started inside a furnace in one of the apartments and spread to a second apartment.

Officials say everyone inside both apartments were able to get out without injury.

The Chief on the scene says the American Red Cross is assisting 8 people who lived in the apartments damaged.

The fire remains under investigation.
