NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in Ohio say a mobile home fire has killed two children and injured several other people.

New Lexington Police Chief Scott Ervin has said a 3-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze early Monday. Police also say two adults and some other children were taken to hospitals. Information on their conditions wasn't immediately available.

A 911 supervisor says the fire was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the Perry County village.

The State Fire Marshal said the fire started in the kitchen, near two portable space heaters but could not confirm if those caused the fire themselves.

They also said there were no smoke detectors in the home.
