Treasure Hunter Tommy Thompson Takes Plea Deal In Federal Court

Treasure hunter Tommy Thompson takes a plea deal in federal court.  But neither he nor his companion will avoid jail time.

Thompson pleaded guilty of contempt of court charges on Wednesday. He was sentenced to  two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

His female companion Alison Antekeier also pleaded guilty and she will spend a year in prison and a $100,000 fine

Thompson is accusations of cheating Columbus-area investors since discovering gold in 1988 from a 19th-century shipwreck.

As part of the plea deal he will have to testify in an upcoming civil lawsuit against him.
