COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police identify the man killed in a crash that happened on Monday at Interstate 70 near Brice Road on the east side of Columbus.
According to Columbus police, the crash happened around 9 a.m.
Police say a tractor-trailer driver hauling approximately 20 tons of rolled steel was traveling eastbound on I-70 just west of the exit ramp to Brice Road.
At the same time, Cody Edwards, 25, of Hanover, Pennsylvania was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided with the truck head-on.
Edwards's vehicle was pinned beneath the truck and both vehicles were on fire, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tractor-trailer driver was taken to Mt. Carmel East Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The road remained closed for several hours and reopened just before 4 p.m.
