2 Olentangy School buses crash on I-270 exit ramp; 4th grader injured

Arrowhead Elementary School fourth graders were on their way to Highbanks Metro Park from Kelton House when the incident occurred.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — At least one fourth grade student was injured after two Olentangy Local School District buses collided with each other Wednesday afternoon, according to the district.

The buses collided just before 1:20 p.m. on the ramp exiting Interstate 270 westbound onto state Route 23 North in Worthington. Arrowhead Elementary School fourth graders were on their way to Highbanks Metro Park from Kelton House when the incident occurred.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and members of the Olentangy Transportation team were at the scene following the crash. One student received additional medical treatment, according to the Olentangy Local School District.

The district said in part, "The safety of our students and staff is always a priority. We want to thank all emergency response personnel, the nine staff members on both buses, and our Olentangy Transportation team for their quick action and care to this situation. Administrators and school staff greeted the students as they returned to school to provide extra support as needed."

The ramp was closed while police and medics responded to the scene, but has since reopened.
