It always used to be said that you can’t beat seeing a big screen movie in a movie theater, but boy oh boy, now you can! Tinseltown is coming to Metro Parks this summer and all the movies in the Metro Parks Outdoor Movie Series are FREE!

Yes, folks, that isn’t a misprint. You can get to see four great family-friendly films on a giant screen outdoors and under the stars at a Metro Park. Oh, and speaking of stars, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be showing in a Metro Park that isn’t in a galaxy far far away. Did we mention the movies are free? Well, so is the popcorn! Just bring blankets, seating, other snacks and drinks. And as we’re outdoors in summer, better bring some bug repellent too, just to be on the safe side.

The series kicks off at Glacier Ridge on Saturday, June 11 (8:30pm) with the smash hit animated epic from Disney/Pixar Animation Studios, The Good Dinosaur. Enjoy the boy and beast adventures of Arlo, a lost dinosaur, and his new friend, Spot, a young Neanderthal boy.

On Friday, July 15 (8:30pm), the movie screen moves to Highbanks for Disney’s classic comedy, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, as four teens get shrunk to just a quarter-inch tall by an inventor’s experimental shrink ray and face deadly diminutive dangers.

On Saturday, August 27 (7:30pm), Sharon Woods will show Disney/Pixar’s WALL-E, another terrific hit from Pixar. Laugh and cry as the last WALL-E unit on Earth (our hero is a Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) meets a beautiful robot named Eve and falls hopelessly in love with her. As in all the best love stories, it never runs smooth, not even for robots.

Our final movie in the series is back at Highbanks on Saturday, September 3 (8pm). Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakenswoke a new generation of fans to the glory that is Star Wars, with good versus evil played out in a galaxy far far away. Don’t miss this phenomenal film under the stars.

All four movies begin playing at dark, with free popcorn and nature activities beforehand at the times shown below.
