Thousands without power due to equipment fire in west Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Approximately 5,500 American Electric Power customers on the west side of Columbus are without power Friday night.

AEP told 10TV the power went out shortly before 8 p.m. after there was an equipment fire at the Wilson Road substation.

The fire is out and crews are working to get the power back on.

AEP estimates power will be restored by 10 p.m. The outage can be monitored here.
