Investigators said Thursday that there were seven reports of break-ins at homes near The Ohio State University in the past week.

James Ward said that three of his roommates were home when thieves broke into their Chittenden Avenue apartment.

“One of the girls was sleeping in the room and they tried to kick the door in and she started screaming and they ran out the back,” Ward said. “One of the neighbors saw the guys leave with merchandise and stuff.”

Thieves got away with a television and a laptop, 10TV’s Justin Moss reported. Descriptions of the robbers were not immediately available.

Cliff Wolosiansky said that a television, video game system and two laptops were taken from his Summit Street home.

“When I'm on campus, I don't feel safe at all,” Wolosiansky said. “If the university got more involved with off campus security, that would be nice.”

Investigators said that in most cases, the victims have been Ohio State students, Moss reported. Police were working to track down the thieves.
