Teenager assaulted, shot while walking in north Columbus

COLUMBUS - Columbus police are investigating after a 17-year-old was assaulted and shot while walking in north Columbus Wednesday evening.

It happened just before 7 p.m. when officers responded to the 3000 block of Hamilton Avenue on a report of a shooting.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later stated that he was walking along E. Weber Road when he was approached by two men.

The men assaulted him and during that assault, gunshots were fired. A bullet hit the 17-year-old in the leg and he is expected to be OK, according to police.

This incident remains under investigation.
