Teen killed, 3 critically injured in Franklin Township crash

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A teenager is dead and three other teens are in critical condition after a crash in Franklin Township on Thursday.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said a vehicle hit a tree in the 2200 block of Brown Road, between Frank Road and Rock Creek Drive.

Four people injured in the crash were taken to Grant Medical Center. One, who has since been identified as 16-year-old Corey McGruder of Grove City, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The three other teenaged victims are still in critical condition according to the sheriff's office.

A Columbus City Schools spokesperson says McGruder attended Briggs High School and counselors are at the school this morning as students and staff learn about this tragic accident.

Brown Road was closed south of the crash area for several hours but it has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
