COLUMBUS, Ohio – NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said the league is looking at the possibility of having an outdoor hockey game in Columbus, according to BlueJackets.com.

Bettman made the comments while at the 2018 Kraft Hockeyville USA preseason game in New York featuring the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres.

He did not say anything was for certain but talks are happening internally.

“It's obvious that the team is competitive, that they're playing exciting hockey, that the fans are reacting in positive ways," Bettman said Tuesday.

"It's even at the point where internally, we're not there yet, we have started focusing on the possibility of an outdoor game."

As for where the game could potentially be played Bettman mentioned, “There's a big football stadium there, last time I checked.”

Bettman said "The Shoe" is on their radar for places to go but they have not done a site survey yet.
