COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State defensive end Chase Young was named the Big Ten Conference's 2019-20 Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year.
Young was selected by a panel of media voters from throughout the conference.
He is only the seventh Buckeye to win the award and second football player, joining Eddie George in 1996.
This past season, Young led the nation in sacks and sacks per game while finishing second in tackles-for-loss and tackles-for-loss per game.
He was a unanimous All-American, won eight major individual awards and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
Young announced in January he would forgo his senior year and entered the NFL Draft where he was selected second overall by the Washington Redskins.
