COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Crew SC confirmed on Twitter Thursday night one of its players has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
In a statement, the Crew said the Crew First Team player received a pair of consecutive, positive test results. However, all other people in the Crew's delegation tested negative.
The team confirms the player was isolated from the rest of the group, and the rest of the delegation will quarantine in their hotel rooms while they wait for more testing. Once the MLS gives approval, the team will go back to training.
The Crew is scheduled to play its rivalry game against FC Cincinnati Saturday, July 11 at 10:30 p.m.
This news comes just a day after FC Dallas confirmed nine of its players and one coach also tested positive for COVID-19.
