Pickerington Central boys basketball team wins state title

It's the school's first state title in boys basketball since 2012.

DAYTON, Ohio — The Pickerington Central boys basketball team won the Division I State Championship on Sunday.

The Tigers defeated the defending champion Centerville Elks 55-48.

Pickerington led 21-17 at the half and Centerville closed the lead to within two, 36-34, by the end of the third quarter.

The Tigers were then able to pull away to seal the victory.

Junior forward Devin Royal led Pickerington in scoring with 20 points.

Pickerington Central last won a boys basketball state title in 2012.
