School official: Fight at Groveport Madison prompts lockdown

GROVEPORT – Groveport Madison High School went on lockdown early Monday, due to a large fight and concerns over a firearm in the building.

The public information officer for the district said there was a rumor of a weapon in the school but the rumor was unfounded after a search.

Groveport police said a large number of students were involved but the number of students actually fighting was approximately six to eight.

Police said the fight happened around 9 a.m. and it was related to a Halloween party in the Columbus area last weekend.

Two 15-year-old students will likely be charged with disorderly conduct and fighting, according to police.

The district said the students will be disciplined.
