Roller coaster weather week: Wintry mix, snow, rain - and then more snow

Another roller coaster week of temperatures and weather events on tap for central Ohio, so let's get right to it.

Later this afternoon, a storm system will bring a wintry mix to the region, then will gradually change over to snow this evening. Temperatures will climb into the mid-upper 30's before dropping back around the freezing mark later this evening. This could set up for an icy commute home from work today.

Snow will wrap up across the region early tonight, with blustery and cold conditions for all going into Tuesday morning. When it's all said and done, there will be light snowfall totals across the region.

As you can see from the snowfall totals above, the majority of the accumulations will be up north, closer towards Lake Erie. While not much snow is expected, a light coating of snow could make for a slippery surface if left untreated. We'll then endure a cold day on Tuesday before temperatures rebound midweek.

Temperatures will then plummet again during the second half of the week, due to our next weather maker.

This next system will approach on Thursday, bringing colder air, rain and snow to the region. At this time is it unknown as to when exactly the changeover to snow will occur but plan for rain to start things off on Thursday before the changeover to snow occurs later in the day. Given the fact we have warmer air in play, this could drastically alter snowfall totals going into Thursday night. Therefore, until weather models start to come in line with each other and we get closer to the event, you should just be prepared for a potential messy commute both Thursday morning and evening.

The unsettled weather pattern will then continue into the weekend, with colder air in place. Another storm system will approach over the weekend, with more snow chances for the region.

We'll have more updates to come throughout the week, so stay tuned and stay safe!
