Richland County shelter hoping to find home for dog with terminal illness

MANSFIELD, Ohio — A shelter in Richland County is hoping to give a dog in their care a loving home for the little time he has left.

According to a Facebook post from the Richland County Dog Warden's Office & Shelter, Factor came to them as a stray with a large mass on his back.

After taking him to the vet for surgery to remove it, they learned Factor had a large mast cell tumor and has six months or less to live.

"We do not want this sweet boy to spend the rest of his life at the shelter and we are looking for someone that would be willing to be a hospice foster," the shelter wrote.

Anyone interested in fostering Factor is encouraged to stop at the shelter and fill out an application.
