Police: Suspect tries to rob Donatos employees with machete in south Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police are searching for a suspect who they say tried to rob two Donatos Pizza employees with a machete in south Columbus on Saturday.

According to Columbus police, at around 11:10 a.m., an unknown male carrying a machete entered the Donatos in the 1000 block of Thurman Avenue.

He approached an employee and allegedly demanded him to open the register and hand over money, threatening to kill him otherwise.

After the employee didn't comply, police say the suspect then approached a delivery driver in the parking lot and demanded money. The delivery driver also didn't comply.

Police say the suspect left and was last seen running northbound in the alley and turning westbound between the houses toward Oakwood Drive.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'6" approximately 150 pounds and between 20-40 years old. Police say he had a black eye on the right and a shiny area on his face that appeared to be a skin graft.

The suspect was wearing a black/camo-colored mask, black hoodie with a red shirt underneath, black pants and carrying a machete. He was last seen in the area of 1267 Oakwood Ave.
