Police Suspect 3 Shootings In Marion To Be Connected

Marion Police believe there may be a connection between three shootings that occurred over the weekend.

The paper reported that a press release stated that people involved in a Sunday afternoon crash told police that a man driving a gray or silver SUV shot at their vehicle.

Police have been investigating links to two other Sunday shootings in the area, one at a downtown bar and one in a residential area.

Marion Lt. Scott Sterling said in the press release that police were called to the scene of an accident where a car ended up in a ditch at 3:32 p.m. on Sunday, the paper reported.

A silver or gray car was reportedly accompanying the SUV.

Sterling said the passengers were victims in an earlier shooting reported at 1:45 a.m. in a residential area.

A press release from Lt. B.J. Gruber said a house in the 470 block of Oak Street was shot at repeatedly while three minors were alone inside.

Adults living in the home had been at a bar earlier, where police saw them leaving at about 1:30 a.m. after a manager told police there had a been a large fight, according to the Marion Star.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation of the string of shootings that involved no reported injuries.
