Police search for driver that left bicyclist injured in Genoa Township


COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police are searching for the driver behind a hit and run incident that left a bicyclist injured in Genoa Township.

Just before 8 a.m. June 2, a woman was riding her bike northbound on Red Bank Road in the area of Lake of the Woods Drive.

Witnesses say the bicyclist was struck by the side mirror of a vehicle, causing her to become airborne and land on the berm of Red Bank Road.

The driver sped away from the scene and drove north on Red Bank Road, according to investigators.

Authorities say the bicyclist was transported to the hospital for severe lacerations and bruises and is recovering from her injuries.

The victim described the vehicle that hit her as an older model car. It could be light or white in color and may have duct tape and plastic over the front passenger side window.

Officers recovered a passenger side mirror that fell off of the vehicle after it struck the bicyclist.
