Police Release Name Of Teenage Shooting Victim


A 15-year-old was killed in a shooting at a McDonald's parking lot in northeast Columbus Thursday afternoon.

Police said it occurred at 2055 Cleveland Avenue around 3 p.m.

According to officials, calls to 911 were made saying that a group of Linden-McKinley high school students were fighting in the parking lot. That's when the shooting occurred.

Police said the victim was Kaewaun D. Coleman, 15. He attended Linden-McKinley high school.

Following the shooting, authorities reported multiple fights inside the OSU Medical Center where the victim had passed away.

Although police led several people out of the hospital, no arrests were made.

Police investigators were on the scene and had not released any information about possible suspects in the case.

The restaurant released the following statement:

“The safety and security of my customers and employees is my top priority, and, as a result, we have closed the restaurant until further notice. My deepest condolences go out to the victim and the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with authorities. As this is a police matter, is it inappropriate for me to comment further.”– Jim Holowicki, local McDonald’s owner.
