Police release identity of teenager killed in west Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS - One teenager was killed and one juvenile was injured in a shooting in west Columbus Saturday morning, according to Columbus police.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. on South Warren Avenue near West Broad Street.

According to police, John William Medlin IV, 19, was killed.

Authorities said one person was found on the front porch of the home with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person, identified only as a juvenile, was injured. Police are not releasing the name of the juvenile but said it was taken to Mt. Carmel West in stable condition. Police said the juvenile was assaulted by the suspects.

Police said both victims were confronted by unknown suspects near the intersection of South Warren Avenue and Olive Street where an altercation ensued. There are no known motives or suspects at this time.
