Police look for suspect accused of stealing puppy at gunpoint in southeast Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police say they are looking for a suspect who is accused of stealing a puppy at gunpoint in southeast Columbus.

Police said a woman posted an online ad for an American Bulldog puppy.

The woman and whom she thought was a potential buyer met in the 4000 block of Acres Drive on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m., according to police.

Police said the suspect was dropped off to the area by someone driving a dark-colored late model Jeep Liberty.

That person circled the block while the suspect was with the woman and the dog, according to police.

Police said the suspect showed a handgun and threatened to shoot the woman.

Police said the suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and aqua-colored basketball shorts. The suspect is described as a black male around the age of 18 to 20 years old.

Police shared surveillance images of the suspect and vehicle on Thursday.
