Police look for person responsible for killing two men in north Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Division of Police is searching for the person responsible in a shooting that left two men dead in north Columbus.

On August 31, 2017, around 1:50 p.m. police officers responded to the scene of a double shooting at the corner of Traymore Place and Republic Avenue.

When officers arrived they found Theodore Stokes and Daryll Gavin, lying on a front porch suffering from gunshot wounds, according to authorities.

Stokes was pronounced dead at the scene and Gavin was taken to Grant Medical Center where he died several days later.

Investigators say a light green mini-van was seen driving away from the scene and this vehicle was eventually located and impounded.

Police are asking that any witnesses to the shooting to please come forward.
