Man charged with murder in deadly northeast Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS -- Police have charged a man with murder in a deadly shooting in northeast Columbus.

Sunday, at approximately 10:26 p.m., officers were called to the 3200 block of Balsam Lake Drive.

According to Columbus police, when officers arrived they found a victim, later identified as Tavon Jonquel Peterson, unresponsive inside a home and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say early Thursday morning they arrested 24-year-old Marton Delany Hall on murder charges.

Police say initial investigation and witness accounts suggest that Peterson was involved in a physical altercation with Hall. That's when police say at least one firearm was taken out and several shots were fired.

This case is still under investigation.
