Police file murder charges for man still at large in north Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened earlier this month in north Columbus.

According to police, on October 6, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of East Dublin Granville Road around 10:30 p.m.

Police said the victim, later identified as Omar Gamez, 41, and suspect Santos Carrillo, 52, were involved in an altercation that started inside the bar and moved outside where it quickly escalated in the fatal shooting of Gamez.

Authorities say Carrillo fled the scene in an unknown direction and Gamez was pronounced dead shortly after 10:40 p.m.

According to a release, homicide detectives have filed murder charges against the suspect Carrillo.
