Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle on US 23 in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 23 in Delaware County on Monday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it happened just before 4 p.m. in Liberty Township.

According to OSHP, the driver in a Honda CR-V was heading northbound on the highway before traveling outside of the lane and off the right side, striking a guardrail and the pedestrian walking along the roadside.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene, according to OSHP.

The driver in the CR-V was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities identified the pedestrian as 48-year-old Adam Bailey out of Columbus.

Roads have since reopened in the area.

The crash remains under investigation.
