COLUMBUS -- U.S. News and World Report has named the Ohio State University the country’s top online bachelor’s program for the first time.

U.S. News analyzed nearly 1,500 programs for the rankings. It looked at faculty credentials, technology and graduates’ average debt.

"Ohio State University--Columbus, a public institution, has been offering online bachelor's degree programs since 2008-2009,” the report said. “All of the online classes are recorded and archived so students can access lecture material at their convenience.”

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida and Temple University in Pennsylvania tied for second place.

U.S. News said pursuing a bachelor’s degree online is a great option for students who are returning to college but are uninterested in more traditional campus life. An online undergraduate education can also help students accelerate their career as they balance work and school.
