One dead, 4 seriously injured in Marion County crash

MARION -- One person died as a result of a two-vehicle crash on State Route 203 and Keener Road at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A 2007 Cadillac CTS was traveling westbound on Keener Road was approaching the intersection of State Route 203.

A 2002 Nissan Altima was northbound on State Route 203 approaching the intersection of Keener Road.

The Cadillac failed to stop at the stop sign striking the Nissan. The two vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection striking an electric pole before coming to rest in a field.

The Cadillac was driven by Harold Cook, 32, of Marion. Cook was seriously injured and transported to Marion General Hospital by EMS. There were two other occupants in the Cadillac. Nikki Cooper, 31, of Portsmouth was seriously injured and transported to Marion General Hospital. Aaron Mckelvy, 28, of Marion, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Nissan was driven by David Short, 40, of New Bloomington. Short was seriously injured and transported to Marion General. Joshua Osborne, 37, of Marion, was seriously injured and transported to OSU Hospital by Med Flight.

This crash remains under investigation.
