Ohio University cancels classes for Monday due to potential flooding


Ohio University has canceled classes at the Athens campus for Monday due to anticipated severe weather and potential flooding.

A forecast of heavy rains have resulted in a flood warning for Athens County beginning this weekend into Monday.

The university says specific areas on campus may be impacted by flooding Sunday evening into Monday morning.

Classes have been canceled for Monday so students who choose to leave campus may do so.

The university says they will make every effort to ensure students on campus are safe, but living conditions may not be ideal.

Classes are expected to resume on Tuesday.
