DUBLIN, Ohio -- A student died after falling ill at a Dublin Coffman High School band rehearsal Monday night, according to Principal Mike Ulring.

Officials said sophomore Andrew Morales was having trouble breathing during a symphonic band rehearsal. According to the band’s director Jeremy Bradstreet, he was rushed to Dublin Methodist Hospital where he “did not regain consciousness.”

Bradstreet said he made the call to 911 and told the dispatcher Morales may have had a pre-existing heart condition.

Morales was a percussionist for the band and marched in the bass drum line, according to Bradstreet.

“Andrew was an amazing young percussionist with lots of talent,” Bradstreet said.

Counseling will be made available to students and staff.

Police told 10TV foul play is not suspected.
