Officials: Explosion leveled home, cause under investigation

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Investigators with the township fire department say the home's occupant was out of town at the time of the blast.

A Bethel Township lieutenant said no one was injured in a house explosion in Clark County Thursday night, according to CBS-affiliate WHIO.

The explosion happened on Lower Valley Poke in the area of South Hampton and Snider Roads in Bethel Township around 7 p.m.

WHIO reports propane has been identified as the source of the house explosion, but the cause remains under investigation according to the Bethel Township Fire Department.

There are no reports of damage to nearby homes.

Nearby residents say the blast knocked photographs off the wall, and a mushroom cloud was visible.
