Northland High School student dies in Delaware County crash

DELAWARE -- A Columbus teenager has died after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 23 late Monday morning.

The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. near milepost 1, in Orange Township.

A 58-year-old Delaware man was driving a blue 2014 Ford F-150 southbound on U.S. 23 in the right lane. Seventeen-year-old Thaddeus Laurol was driving a cream 2007 Toyota Camry northbound on U.S. 23.

Laurol failed to control his vehicle, slid left of center and was struck on the right side by the truck.

Laurol was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

The Columbus City School district confirmed that Laurol was a senior at Northland High School.

Laurol was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol/drug use is unknown. The crash remains under investigation.
