Authorities say a 10-month-old boy who was taken from his home early Wednesday morning has been found and the father is in custody ending a statewide AMBER Alert.

The condition of the baby is not known at this time.

Authorities say the 10-month-old boy was reportedly abducted by his non-custodial father, Robert D. Beane Sr.

Beane Sr. was arrested by US Marshals in Elyria on June 28 on armed robbery and kidnapping. He was released on medical furlough from the Lorain County Jail on July 5.

Authorities Beane Sr. stole a 2018 Camaro in Elyria Wednesday morning around 4 a.m. Around 5:30 a.m., he went to his girlfriend’s home, pistol-whipped her and took their 10-month-old.

The victim wasn’t cooperative at the scene, according to authorities. Hours later, she described what happened and a vehicle description.

The vehicle was reported to be in Shelby. Police responded and attempted to locate the vehicle, but it had left and was heading toward Ashland on US 42.

Authorities say the vehicle was then spotted later and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit resulted in a crash of the stolen vehicle in the 2100 block of Mansfield Lucas Road in Richland County.

Beane Sr. exited the vehicle with the child and fled on foot.

Authorities say both were found around 6:30 p.m. in a wooded area. Beane Sr. surrendered and the child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
