The Ohio State University is asking students, drivers and the city of Columbus to help make the campus safer.
The request is part of the recommendation from the newly-formed safety task force.
Within the next four to six months, OSU will adopt a clear set of rules, increase signage, establish The Oval as a dismount zone for cyclists and look at new ways to reduce traffic congestion by evaluating delivery, maintenance and construction traffic.
The task force's long-term recommendations are to change the campus culture, making it more respectful of all modes of transportation.
They also plan to do a study on the campus' traffic patterns and behaviors, and will ask the Columbus officials to make improvements to High Street and other heavily traveled city streets near campus.
President Gordon Gee commissioned the task force after a series of serious accidents involving student pedestrians and bicyclists.
Just Tuesday afternoon, there was a report of a pedestrian hit on High Street near 15th Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
