ATLANTA (WXIA) — Tyler Perry continues to give back, and he's doing so by kicking off National Hospital Week with a big donation.

Staff from Tyler Perry Studios delivered hundreds of gourmet meals to Grady Memorial Hospital on Monday.

The food was prepared by celebrity chef and “Grady Baby” Elliot Farmer. Grady's healthcare workers are on the front lines, battling COVID-19.

Tyler Perry Studios spent weeks planning the surprise.

“We are absolutely astounded by the generosity and kindness of the Tyler Perry Studios staff. To do something this special for our front-line care providers and support staff makes this year’s hospital week celebration extraordinary,” Lindsay Caulfield, Grady’s Chief Experience Officer wrote in a statement. “We are humbled and honored by their support.”

Last week, The Fort Mac LRA and Tyler Perry Studios said they have entered into an agreement to help the production facility get back up and running again.

During a special meeting, the Fort McPherson Board Of Directors passed a resolution to lease a small portion of the property, in order to create temporary housing on the Tyler Perry Studios campus.

The resolution would allow production crews and staff to reside in temporary housing while working on the Tyler Perry Campus.

"The goal of resolution and agreement is to make sure that the talented staff and crews can be housed safely while getting people back to work during this unprecedented financial and health related crisis," Fort Mac Spokesperson Mark Hayes said.

Tyler Perry Studios was once part of the Fort McPherson Army base. It has 141 barracks, 40 historic homes and 30 homes he built that are also livable.

Well... the secret is out. Chef Elliott and @tylerperrystudios worked effortlessly together!!!... Thank you Pamela Cooper for initiating the idea and Morehouse School of Medicine for your GREAT contribution! Chef Jarrod Phillips, Adam Lawsky and others worked alongside Chef Elliott to pull it all together. Thank you to my friend and colleague @jpatjames and J’s Kitchen for the kitchen space.
