Giant Eagle to offer $10 million in bonus pay among employees

Giant Eagle is offering $10 million in bonus pay to supermarket, pharmacy and convenience store employees across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak.

PITTSBURGH -- Giant Eagle is offering $10 million in bonus pay among supermarket, pharmacy and convenience store employees across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak.

In a Saturday statement from the company, bonus pay will be offered to all employees in its Giant Eagle, Market District, Giant Eagle Pharmacy and GetGo locations, as well as those working in its warehouses and delivering product to stores.

The company says the bonus pay starts immediately and is retroactive to Sunday, March 15. The Saturday, May 2 end date will be reevaluated in the coming weeks based on community need.

Both current and new employees are eligible.

"Across all our communities every day, they are working tirelessly to keep families safe, healthy and fed. We cannot thank them enough. They are our heroes."
