LAS VEGAS — The Air Force Thunderbirds showed appreciation for health care workers and first responders on the front lines against the coronavirus by flying over more than a dozen hospitals and medical facilities in the Las Vegas area.
The formation of F-16 jets from the U.S. Air Force's flight demonstration squadron performed the flyover Saturday as a tribute to health care workers, emergency responders and essential personnel.
There were more than a dozen members of University Medical Center’s medical staff on top of the helipad Saturday afternoon.
Still donned in their scrubs and masks, they were able to take pictures and wave as the Thunderbirds flew by.
On Facebook, they said they flew over 18 facilities.
"Our nation’s healthcare workers and first responders who are on the frontlines combatting COVID-19 are a representation of American resolve and the American spirit. They are an inspiration for the entire country during these challenging times," the Thunderbirds said in a Facebook post.
"It was an honor to fly over 18 hospitals and medical facilities today for the brave Americans keeping us safe."
