A motorcyclist is behind bars after he led police on a high speed chase through Heath.
Heath Police said the pursuit began on Irvingwick Drive East when an officer saw Dustin Messina, 33, driving a motorcycle without a license plate.
Messina, of Newark, refused to pull over. The chase lasted for more than five miles and reached speeds of 100 MPH. Messina lost control and fell off the motorcycle as he turned onto a road off Forry Street.
Messina then ran from officers into a line of trees and crossed a river. Newark and Health police later surrounded and arrested him.
The 33-year-old was arrested for failure to comply with the order of a police officer and is facing other charges.
