Outside an East 13th Avenue home in Columbus, candles are embraced in the arms of stuffed animals and balloons try their best to stay tied down in the late February breeze.
These things are here representing someone who no longer is.
"She's very memorable," Shay Martin said. "She's beautiful, she's intelligent. She cares about everybody."
It's what Martin remembers about her friend, Sade Garner.
"Everything," she said. "When she walked in the room, you know it's Sade."
The two friends worked closely together promoting events. Martin says she saw Garner Friday, just hours before Garner died.
"I just shot my sister," a caller told 911. Please come. Hurry up, please."
On the other end of the 911 call was Anjoure Lawrence, who identifies herself as Garner's sister.
"What's wrong with her," the dispatcher asks. "I just shot her!"
When officers got there, they found Garner lying in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound. She later died.
Police arrested Lawrence, 35, who is three years older than her sister and charged her with murder.
Martin couldn't believe her friend was gone. Then, she couldn't believe who police say pulled the trigger.
"I didn't believe it," Martin said. "I couldn't believe it. I still don't believe it."
Martin had seen the two sisters together. She remembers good vibes and never seeing one without the other.
"She cared a lot about people," Martin said of Garner.
Friday, Martin is promoting an event at Pure Ultra Lounge in honor of Garner with all the proceeds going to her family.
"I knew she would have did it for me," she said. "It's the right thing to do."
Friday's event runs from 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Saturday. It's located at 3250 Allegheny Avenue in Columbus.
