LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper ended up recovering a young victim of human trafficking following a routine traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike.

According to WTOL in Toledo, Trooper Mitch Ross of the Swanton Post pulled over a 2013 Nissan Sentra for a failure to move over violation on the turnpike when he noticed a young female riding with the older male, neither of whom had identification or spoke English.

Once the two were determined to be of El Salvadorian descent, an OSHP translator was called to the scene, where it was determined the girl was 15 and the man was 35.

Police say the man forced the girl to perform acts on him and that she was being taken to Chicago from New Jersey, WTOL reported. The girl was discovered to be a missing juvenile from New Jersey and was taken to the hospital for medical care.

Police arrested the man. He was charged with abduction and is being held in the Lucas County jail.
