Teen arrested in west Columbus restaurant robbery, two on the run

Columbus Police captured one suspect believed to be involved in a restaurant robbery, but they are still looking for two more suspects.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Police captured one suspect believed to be involved in a restaurant robbery, but they are still looking for two more suspects.

The robbery happened on Saturday afternoon, around 4:35 at the Subway located at 1556 W. Broad Street.

Three suspects entered the store and used a gun to demand money from the clerk. Two of the suspects hopped the counter and stole cash from the register.

According to police, the third suspect locked the door and waited in the foyer.

One of the suspects behind the counter set off the security alarm while he went looking for the store safe.

Police arrived to see three suspects running from the store. They captured one and the driver of the getaway car that was waiting at the scene. According to police, the 16-year-old suspect had the property of a customer in his possession. He also had several outstanding felony warrants, including for robbery.

Police charged the 16-year-old male with robbery and 18-year-old Abdifatah A. Kabiro with complicity.

Two other suspects got away.
