MANSFIELD, Ohio -- A middle school student is in police custody for allegedly carrying a pellet gun near Mansfield school grounds Tuesday.
A classmate told staff that a student had a firearm outside the middle and high schools, according to Mansfield Police.
Police ultimately determined the 14-year-old student was carrying a pellet gun.
The schools operated a “soft lockdown” while officers arrested the student.
The district is back to normal operations.
Police are working with the prosecutor to determine charges.
