The Pike County Sheriff’s Office issued a safety alert after receiving reports that gang members are possibly planning on coming into the county.

Sheriff Charles Reader said in the alert sent Monday that members of the international criminal gang MS-13 are allegedly coming into the area this weekend.

The alert stated that gang members plan on “taking out” believed snitches and will spread a heavily laced heroin that could lead to overdoses.

The information on the gang’s possible planned activities in the area came from “very limited intelligence deputies have gathered in recent drug-related investigations,” according to Sheriff Reader.
