The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said the county is seeing a sudden increase in possible overdose incidents.
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth said officers from the Washington C.H. Police Department, and Fayette County EMS have responded to 30 reported overdose calls in the last 10 days.
Sheriff Stanforth said six deaths were reported in that stretch and are suspected to be related to the overdoses.
Fayette County Deputy Health Commissioner Leigh Cannon said that naloxone is in short supply due to the increase in overdoses.
This comes one day after 10TV learned of increased overdoses in neighboring Ross County. The Chillicothe Police Department is investigating 12 overdoses, including one fatal, in the last two days. Lab results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab confirm the presence of Carfentanil in drugs seized in the city.
Chillicothe Police said it is unknown if Carfentanil is responsible for the current overdoses.
