Scuffle at Marion county skate rink leads to woman pleading guilty; placed on house arrest

Petra Smith, the woman who grabbed the head of a teen and pushed it back during an altercation at a local skate rink, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Marion Municipal Court to assault charges.

The scuffle happened at Zoomers at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Video obtained by 10TV shows the woman in a verbal disagreement with the teen.

The boys says he and several friends were spraying themselves with cologne to freshen up after hours of skating.

He says a woman asked to check his bag to which he replied "no."

The teen says something in reply and the woman grabs him and shoves his head back.

The owner of Zoomers Skate Club told 10TV Smith worked as a line cook for about a year the venue. The owner says she and her husband who also works the rink have both been fired.

Smith has a small fine to pay and 10 days worth of house arrest, or three days in jail. She also is ordered to write a letter of apology to the teen and has two years of probation.
