Resort-style development planned for downtown Columbus

A new residential and entertainment district is in the works for downtown Columbus, right in Huntington Park's back yard.

A new residential and entertainment district is in the works for downtown Columbus, right in Huntington Park's back yard.

Two towers will rise on the property, along with a grocery store a hotel and more. The project is called Grand Central.

The project is planned in one of the last undeveloped spaces in the center of the Capital City, 23 acres just northwest of Huntington Park.

Schottenstein Real Estate Group is planning what it calls a high end, resort style district, right next to the current arena district.

The group plans to partner with national developers on the project and say it will be the largest project of its kind in the area.

“There’s going to be two hotels, around 900 total units with multi-family, real high-end condominium tower and then an urban, walkable environment, where it’s nothing but boutique shops and restaurants,” said Schottenstein Real Estate Group President Brian Schottenstein.

The group isn't releasing the dollar amount on this project yet or when they'll start construction.
