Greater Columbus Red Cross prepares for hurricane season during pandemic

While Florida is preparing for the impacts of Hurricane Isaisis, locally the Greater Columbus Chapter of the American Red Cross is also gearing up in a different way this year.

Cory Paul, Executive Director of the Greater Columbus Chapter of the American Red Cross, said volunteers and donations are still very much an important part of the organization.

This year, they had to relearn how to educate their volunteers and shelters in the current atmosphere.

Volunteers will now be trained online with social distancing and mask-wearing strictly enforced. In their disaster shelters, cots will be placed with social distancing in mind.

Not only is the Red Cross in need of volunteers and donations as we reach the heart of Hurricane and Wildfire Season, but nurses are imperative. Nurses will not only be used to check on victims of natural disasters but also for COVID-19 symptoms.

If you are interested in volunteering or donating to the cause, you can find more information here.
