Police identify man killed in southeast Columbus shooting

Columbus Police said officers were called to the area of Frebis Avenue and Alum Creek Drive on a report of a shooting around 11 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - One man was killed in a shooting in southeast Columbus Wednesday.

Columbus Police said officers were called to the area of Frebis Avenue and Alum Creek Drive on a report of a shooting around 11 p.m.

Upon arriving on scene, officers found 20-year-old Des'Juan Johnson suffering on the side of the road from a gunshot wound.

Johnson was transported to Grant Medical Center where he later died, according to police.

Investigators say Johnson and 18-year-old Cameron Simpson were together in a vehicle on Alum Creek Drive when they were fired upon by invividuals using an assualt rifle and handguns.

Simpson was not injured in the shooting. Police say he attempeted to flee the area after Johnson was fatally shot.

Police say there are no know suspects or motive at this time.
