Police: Couple arrested after stealing puppy from Columbus Petland store

The bulldog puppy is not hurt. Police said officers also seized guns, ammunition and marijuana from the couple's home.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police said a couple is arrested after they stole an Old English Bulldog puppy, which was selling for $10,000, from a Columbus Petland store.

Police said 28-year-old Wayne Sexton and 28-year-old Sara Sexton took the dog from the playroom from the store on Bethel Road on July 13 just after 6:30 p.m.

An employee tried to stop them from leaving the store but police said Wayne threatened to hurt the employee. The couple drove away with the dog.

On July 16, SWAT officers executed a search warrant at the couple's home on Brandenberry Court East and found the bulldog unharmed.

Police said they also found assault rifles, a shotgun, two handguns, and more than 1,000 rounds and 50 clips of magazines filled with ammunition.

Police said 25 marijuana plants were also found.

The couple was arrested and each is charged with a felony count of robbery.
